बचपन से था बागवानी का सपना

अन्ना मणिरत्नम बताते है कि वह अपने परिवार के साथ एक नवनिर्मित घर में चले गए, जहां उनके पास सब्जियां या फल देने वाले पौधे उगाने के लिए ज्यादा जगह नहीं थी, परंतु यहां उनके पास 675 वर्ग फुट की छत है, जिस पर उन्होंने एक मिनी फ़ूड फ़ॉरेस्ट विकसित करने का फैसला किया। आज तीन साल बाद उनकी छत पर 100 से अधिक पौधे हैं। जिनमें टमाटर, बैगन, लाल अमरूद, कस्टर्ड सेब जैसे फल और ऐमारैंथस जैसी जड़ी-बूटियां शामिल हैं।

बगीचे में हर महीना होता है 500 रुपये खर्च

मणि के बगीचे में हर महीना केवल 500 रुपये का ही खर्च है। इसका टिप्स वह फेसबुक ग्रुप पर 1,000 अन्य लोगों के साथ साझा करते है। मणि ने बागवानी की शुरूआत अपनी छत पर तुलसी के पौधे उगाकर की। उसके बाद उन्होंने चमेली, टमाटर जैसी सब्जियों के लिए बीज खरीदे, जिसका उनके घर पर इस्तमाल किया जा सके। मणि कहते हैं कि मैं अपने दैनिक उपभोग के लिए टैरेस गार्डन से उपज का उपयोग करना चाहता था इसलिए मुझे इसे व्यवस्थित रूप से विकसित करने की आवश्यकता थी। – Anna Mani Ratnam from Machilipatnam, fulfills a childhood dream of gardening on a 675 sq ft terrace.

गुंटूर से लिए बागवानी का प्रशिक्षण

मणि ने रासायनिक उर्वरकों या कीटनाशकों का उपयोग करने के बजाय रसोई से निकलने वाले कचरे को खाद के रूप में इस्तमाल किया और जीवामृत और पंचकव्य जैसे जैविक उर्वरक बनाने का फैसला कर लिए। जैविक उर्वरकों के बारे में जानने के लिए उन्होंने गुंटूर में दो सप्ताह की कार्यशाला में भाग लिया। यहां से उन्होंने सभी जरूरी बाते सीखीं और उन्हें घर पर लागू करना शुरू किया। खरीद लागत कम करने के लिए मणि अपने घर के पास एक डेयरी फार्म से संपर्क किया और गोबर और मूत्र एकत्र किया।

मणि अपने छत पर फलों के पेड़ से लेकर औषधीय पौधे भी लगाए

मणि कहते है कि मालिकों ने मुझे इसे मुफ्त में दिया, जिसके इस्तेमाल से हर महीने 150 लीटर तक बना सकता था। मणि फेंके हुए ड्रमों में खाद बनाए। उनके अनुसार इसे और पानी से पतला किया जाता था और हर 14 दिनों में पौधों में मिलाया जाता था। लॉकडॉन के दौरान जब वे खाद नहीं खरीद पाए तो उन्होंने उर्वरक के रूप में पानी के साथ मिश्रित रसोई के कचरे का उपयोग किया। मणि अपने छत पर फलों के पेड़, भृंगराज, खट्टे जैसे औषधीय पौधे, एडेनियम, बोन्साई जैसे फूल वाले पौधे लगाकर अपने बगीचे का विस्तार करना शुरू कर दिया।

गीले कचरे और सूखे कचरे दोनों का किया इस्तेमाल

मणि अपना यह अनुभव पड़ोस में दूसरों के साथ भी साझ किए और उन्हें एक स्थायी जीवन शैली का पालन करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किए। कार्यशाला में मिले एक मित्र गौरी काव्या के साथ उन्होंने बंदर ब्रुंदावनम नाम से एक फेसबुक पेज शुरू किया, जिसमें खाद, जैविक खाद और कीटनाशक बनाने और बीज कटाई के बारे में सुझाव साझा किए गए थे। मणि बागवानी हैक्स पर वीडियो और पोस्ट साझा किए। साथ ही 3 से 5 किलोमीटर के दायरे में रहने वाले सदस्यों के साथ बीज और उर्वरक भी साझा किए।

1,000 से अधिक लोग हुए समूह में शामिल

मणि कहते हैं कि अधिकांश एक्सचेंज मुफ्त में किए गए थे ताकि 1,000 से अधिक लोगों को समूह में शामिल होने और एक परिवार बनने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया जा सके। मणि कहते हैं कि महामारी की दूसरी लहर के दौरान समूह का बंधन और मजबूत हो गया। समूह के एक बुजुर्ग सदस्य का निधन के बाद उनकी बेटी समूह के पास पहुंची और अनुरोध किया कि क्या उसकी मां के पौधों को उसकी अंतिम इच्छा के रूप में दूसरों द्वारा अपनाया जाएगा। ऐसे में 10 से अधिक सदस्यों ने आगे बढ़कर विभिन्न प्रकार के पौधों को लिया, जिसे वह आज भी अपने रूप में उगा रहे है।
