जानकारी के लिए आपको बता दें कि हीरा कार्बन का ही एलोट्रोप है। इसके सभी एटम आपस में एक-दूसरे से मजबूती से जुड़े रहते हैं इसलिए इसे चबाकर खाना सम्भव नहीं है। लेकिन यदि इसे कूटा जाए तो यह कांच की तरह टूटकर बिखर जाता है। यदि ऐसे में इसे निगला जाए तो शरीर के अंदर कई सारे रोगों को जन्म दे सकते हैं। इसके अलावा इसे निगलने पर यह शरीर के आहार नली में हो सकता है जिससे किसी की मृत्यु भी हो सकती है।
