चंद्रशेखर अपने एरिया के किसानों को महोगनी पेड़ लगाने के लिए बताते हैं। महोगनी पेड़ ज्यादातर साउथ अफ्रीका में पाई जाती है और यह बहुत महंगी होती है।

बन सकते हैं करोड़पति

इसके अतिरिक्त इसमें औषधीय गुण होते हैं एवं इसकी लकड़ियों में भी बहुत से गुण समाहित होते हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि खाली पड़ी भूमि में हम अगर सैकड़ों पेड़ लगा दे, तो 12 साल इसकी देखभाल करने के उपरांत हमारा करोड़पति बनना अनिवार्य है।

महोगनी की लकड़ी से फर्नीचर, संगीत वाद्ययंत्र, जहाज, बंदूक का कोंदा इत्यादि का निर्माण किया जाता है। इसकी लकड़ी में ऐसे गुण समाहित होते हैं, जिससे यह पानी में भी खराब नहीं होता।

5 वर्ष में मिलता है एक बार बीज

महोगनी के पौधें से 5 वर्ष में एक बार बीज प्राप्त होता है। इसके एक पौधे में लगभग 5 किलोग्राम बीज की प्राप्ति होती है। इसकी एक किलोग्राम बीज की कीमत लगभग 1000 रुपए होती है।

लकड़ी का मूल्य अधिक

वहीं इसकी लकड़ी 2000 प्रति घन फीट के मूल्य से बिकती है।

लगाए 148 महोगनी के पौधे

चंद्रशेखर प्रसाद माई फ्यूचर लाइफ संस्था से जुड़कर कार्य कर रहे हैं एवं किसानों को प्रेरित कर प्रशिक्षण भी दे रहे हैं, ताकि वे महोगनी के पेड़ को लगा सके। इस संस्था द्वारा पश्चिमी और पूर्वी सिंहभूम जिले में लगभग 82000 पौधे लगाए जा चुके हैं।

इतनी भूमि पर लगाए पेड़

आगे इस संस्था का लक्ष्य लगभग 21 लाख महोगनी के पौधों को लगाना है। चंद्रशेखर प्रसाद ने भी मात्र 18 डिसमिल भूमि पर 148 के करीब महोगनी के पेड़ लगाएं हैं।

लगाए अन्य प्रकार के पेड़ भी

इसके अतिरिक्त उन्होंने 23 डिसिमल भूमि में नारियल, अमरूद, केला, अनार, लीची और आम के पौधों को लगाया है। वह वर्ष 2004 से ही किसानों को प्रशिक्षण दे रहे हैं कि किस तरह आधुनिक तकनीक को अपनाकर खेती से अत्यधिक लाभ कमाया जा सकता है।- farming of wooden plants for furniture
