कर्नाटक (Karnataka) के हसन जिले से लगभग 22 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित इस अनोखे चर्च का नाम शेट्टीहल्ली रोजरी चर्च (Shettihalli Rosary Church) है। यह भारत के इस इकलौते चर्च को लोग “तैरता हुआ” या “डुबा हुआ चर्च” करते हैं। इसकी संरचनाएँ बेहद खुबसूरत है फिर भी यह एक खंडहर बन कर रह गया है और यहां टूरिस्ट भी कभी-कभार ही आते हैं।

हेमावती नदी के किनारे स्थित शेट्टीहल्ली रोजरी चर्च (Shettihalli Rosary Church) को 1860 में फ़्रैंच मिशनरीज द्वारा बनाया गया था। मानसून में डूब जाने के वजह से इसे “गुमनाम डेस्टिनेशन” भी कहा जाता है। यह चर्च वीरान उस समय हुआ जब वर्ष 1960 में हेमावती नदी पर बान्ध बना दिया गया। उस बांध के वजह से चर्च के पास की सभी भूमि रेत से भर गई और यह खुबसूरत चर्च वीरान हो गया।

पूरे वर्ष पानी में डुबे रहने की वजह से इस चर्च का सिर्फ एक तिहाई हिस्सा ही देखने को मिलता है। यही वजह है कि इस चर्च को एक नया नाम दिया गया है, ” द ड्रोइंग चर्च”। शेट्टीहल्ली रोजरी चर्च जो अब चिडियोँ का घर बन गया है, वहां सिर्फ वही पर्यटक आते हैं जिन्हें शांति की तलाश रहती है।

यदि वर्षा ऋतु के मौसम में आप यहां की यात्रा करना चाहते हैं तो नाव से यात्रा कर सकते हैं। नाव की मदद से आप इस चर्च के भीतरी हिस्से का दर्शन कर सकते हैं। यह चर्च की खुबसूरती को जुलाई से अक्तूबर के बीच देखा जा सकता है। उस समय इसका आधा हिस्सा पानी में और एक तिहाई हिस्सा पानी से ऊपर नजर आता है। वहीं दिसंबर से मई के बीच यह पूरा चर्च सतह पर नजर आता है।
