आनंद ने अपनी शुरुआती पढ़ाई सिवान से करने के बाद दिल्ली यूनिवर्सिटी से इंजीनियरिंग की डिग्री प्राप्त किया। ग्रेजुएशन पूरा करने के बाद उन्होंने एक नौकरी जॉइन की। इसी बीच उन्हें यूपीएससी (UPSC) का ख्याल आया और उन्होंने इसे क्लियर करने का फैसला कर लिया। नौकरी की वजह से उन्हें पढ़ने का समय नहीं मिल पाता था इसलिए वे केवल वीकेंड क्लास ही ज्वाइन कर पाते थे। आनंद वर्धन ने (Anand Vardhan) तीन बार यूपीएससी की परीक्षा दिया लेकिन वे प्रीलिम्स तक क्लियर नहीं कर पाए। – success story of Anand Vardhan from Bihar of becoming an IAS officer in fourth attempt

चौथे प्रयास में मिली सफलता
