बता दें कि, करिश्मा मूल रूप से केरल के पलका की रहने वाली हैं, हालांकि उन्होंने अपनी पढ़ाई-लिखाई मुंबई से ही पूरा किया है। उन्होंने अपनी शुरुआती शिक्षा पूरी करने के बाद फॉरेंसिक साइंस में B.Sc. की डिग्री प्राप्त की।
ग्रेजुएशन के बाद की सिविल सेवा की तैयारी
ग्रेजुएशन की शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के बाद करिश्मा (IAS Karishma Nair) सिविल सेवा की तैयारी हेतु दिल्ली चली गईं और वहां करीबन एक साल रहकर सिविल सेवा परीक्षा की तैयारी करने लगीं। यूपीएससी परीक्षा के पहले प्रयास में प्री तथा मेन्स तो क्लियर कर लिया लेकिन इंटरव्यू में सफलता नहीं मिल पाई।
दूसरे प्रयास में मिली सफलता
यूपीएससी एग्जाम के पहले प्रयास में असफल होने के बाद करिश्मा (IAS Karishma Nair) से अपने आप को टूटने नहीं दिया बल्कि हार नहीं मानते हुए पुनः प्रयास में जुट गईं। इसबार पहले से भी ज्यादा मेहनत किया और एक सही रणनीति बनाई और पहले प्रयास के तरह ही दूसरे बार भी ऑप्शनल विषय के रूप में पब्लिक एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन का ही चयन किया।
अपने मेहनत और लगन के बदौलत करिश्मा (IAS Karishma Nair) ने यूपीएससी एग्जाम के दूसरे प्रयास में केवल सफलता ही नहीं पाई बल्कि ऑल इंडिया 14 रैंक लाकर टॉपर्स लिस्ट में अपना नाम भी शामिल किया।

करिश्मा (IAS Karishma Nair) ने दूसरे कैंडिडेट्स को सलाह देते हुए बताया है कि एक सही रणनीति बनाकर उसी हिसाब से यूपीएससी की तैयारी करनी चाहिए। इसके आलावा रोजाना न्यूजपेपर पढ़ें और जब खुद को अच्छी तरह से परीक्षा के लिए तैयार कर लें तो मॉक टेस्ट जरूर दें। उनका मानना है कि, तैयारी अच्छी होने के बाद ही मॉक टेस्ट देने चाहिए क्योंकि इसमें अच्छे अंक न मिलने से आपका कॉन्फिडेंस कम हो सकता है।
उनका (IAS Karishma Nair) कहना है कि, परीक्षा में सफलता प्राप्त के लिए किसी बैकग्राउंड की जरूरत नहीं होती, और न किसी कोचिंग क्लास की। अगर मेहनत के साथ और खुद पर विश्वास रखकर सही रणनीति से यूपीएससी की तैयारी की जाए तो सफलता जरूर मिलती है।
