कई जगहो पर आज भी घर से या पौधों से कीड़ों को भगाने के लिए केरोसिन तेल का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है। यह काफी मददगार साबित होता है। इसकी तेज गंध के चलते यह कीड़े कुछ ही देर में भाग जाते हैं तथा पौधों को इससे कोई नुक्सान भी नहीं पहुंचता। पौधे पर इसका अच्छे से छिड़काव कर दीजिए या टमाटर के किसी-किसी पत्ते पर केरोसिन तेल को लगाकर छोड़ दीजिए। इसकी तेज महक से एक भी कीड़े नहीं नहीं आएंगे।
