इसका नाम नौकुचियाताल क्यों पड़ा?

नैनीताल में स्थित नौकुचियाताल वहां के सात झीलों में से एक है। इसको नौकुचियाताल इसलिए कहा जाता है क्योंकि इसके 9 कोने है। यह गांव नैनीताल से 25 किलोमीटर तथा भीमताल से करीब 7 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है।

नीचे स्थित कुंड से आता है पानी

नौकुचियाताल समुद्र से लगभग 1220 फुट ऊंचा है और इसकी गहराई 50 मीटर है। इस झील में हमेशा ही पानी भड़ा रहता है। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि इस झील में आने वाला पानी इसके नीचे मौजूद एक कुंड से आता है। यहां का सुंदर वातावरण, मनमोहन दृश्य देखने में बेहद खूबसूरत लगता है।- uttarakhand tourism Naukuchiatal details

इस जगह के बारे में ऐसा कहां जाता है कि भगवान ब्रह्मा की लंबी तपस्या के कारण इसका निर्माण हुआ था। यहां के लोगों का मानना है कि जो भी व्यक्ति इस झील का परिक्रमा करता है, उन्हें भगवान ब्रह्मा की कृपा प्राप्त होती है। माना यह भी जाता कि जो व्यक्ति एक बार में ही झील से सभी कोने को देख लेते हैं, उन्हें मृत्यु के बाद मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है।
